Ingredients
  

  • 1/2 cup soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch
  • 1/2 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper

Instructions
 

  • In a saucepan, combine the soy sauce, water, brown sugar, and minced garlic. Stir well to combine.
  • Place the saucepan over medium heat and bring the mixture to a gentle simmer, stirring occasionally.
  • In a small bowl, dissolve the cornstarch in 1 tablespoon of water to create a slurry.
  • Once the sauce is simmering, gradually pour the cornstarch slurry into the sauce while whisking continuously.
  • Continue to simmer the sauce for 2-3 minutes, or until it thickens to your desired consistency.
  • Remove the saucepan from heat and stir in the sesame oil and ground black pepper.
  • Allow the siopao sauce to cool slightly before serving. Enjoy with your favorite siopao!
